It's another beautiful morning here in Southwestern PA! Oct 8th the acorns are still dropping and the deer are getting fatter by the hour! Steve Mac was gracious enough to bring me out to one of his spots on "the ridge"!! It is awesome out here!
Yesterday I had a great encounter with an old sloppy doe that just didn't come together! Had her dead a couple of times but just couldn't get the shot off! Very exciting though!!
In the evening I took Timmy B out to one of our favorite sets "the Hackstand" where we saw a good number of deer! We were sitting there relaxing around 5:30 pm when he taps me on the leg anD says don't move, I'm not kidding!!! There's a deer right under our tree!! I was like, no way, he's usually messing with me, but as I slowly turned to look, there she was!! As I got the camera on her she was literally sniffing around the base of the tree we were in! As Tim started to draw his bow the arrow fell off of the rest! All bowhunters know that sound!! Tink, Tink, and usually the hunt is over!! But not so in this case she didn't know what was going on but she wasn't going to wait around either she jumped a little bit and started heading out! As Tim reestablished the arrow on his rest he went to draw again and would you believe that it happened again?!! He quickly corrected it and came to full draw again and the deer stopped at around 10 yards or so! Thwack I saw the arrow jump and stick in the ground with the tracer nock lit! I figured it to be a clean pass through but the deer bolted out of there and never slowed till she was out of sight! We quickly reviewed the footage to watch as the arrow skimmed across her back and into the ground!! We couldn't believe it, horrifying!!
This story makes me think about the deceived that roams the earth seeking whom he may devour! Often time the sin looks great until we realize we are consumed by it!! If we allow the smallest bit of sin into our lives it has the potential to destroy us! "Guard your heart that you might not sin against me." trust God in everything so that you can be victorious! Never lose that tender heart God gave you when you were saved! If you have not yet given everything to Him do it today and never look back!!
